3-week-old Lucy got to meet her 3-day-old cousin, Cassidi. The angle of the camera makes her look smaller than she is, but they're actually about the same size. Cassidi is Irene's baby girl, for those who don't know.
As a new mom, I assumed most of Lucy's behavior was normal. I thought that way so that I wouldn't freak out over everything, as was my tendency. She ate, she slept, and she cried. No matter how much. However, a quick visit to the pediatrician showed that Lucy was underweight. That wouldn't be so bad, but the scale showed only a 4 ounce difference in an entire month. You might notice she looks abnormally tiny in the picture. The charts showed that she should have gained about 2 pounds. I freaked out a little. Her crying in the evening appeared to be more than just colic. Poor thing was hungry and my feeding her exclusively wasn't enough. So the doctor had me put her on a formula intended for premature babies. She made weekly visits until the doctor was satisfied with her weight. The bottle was hard for her to get used to, and it seemed she had to drink it upside down or she wouldn't take it. Now she takes it readily and even while upright. Her most recent visit showed that she had successfully gained 10 pounds and she had even made it on the charts. Now I know what a content baby looks like.
As you can see, Lucy now knows how to smile, and I'm loving it. She mostly does it during certain times, like bathtime and diaper changing time. I've even heard her laugh once or twice, but she hasn't quite gotten that far yet.
Halloween just happened and we were lucky to find a costume that was in Lucy's size. So this is my little pumpkin. Not that she did much in it except pose for the camera in honor of halloween.
We have attended a couple hockey games. And Lucy has officially been dubbed a Thunder fan.
Of course, she slept through both of them despite the loud music.
We've also been to a service project distributing bags for people to put food in and leave them out front a week later for us to pick them up. Lucy was in a very good mood that morning.
Now at almost three months, Lucy has finally outgrown her newborn clothes and I've had fun dressing her in clothes I've wanted her to fit in for a while. This dress is almost an exact replica of one that I wore when I was little. The scan turned out funny but I decided not to spend too much time on it.
Still I think they're pretty close. But hers is cuter.
This is the last picture I took before I did this:
I always knew I would chop my hair off when I had kids. I didn't expect to do it on the first one, but I figured why hold it off. It's so much easier and I'm pretty satisfied with it. Hardly takes any work at all.
So in three months, this is how Lucy looked in the beginning:
And this is where she is now:
I don't know if you can see how much she's changed, but I do. So things are going great. This felt like a lot of catching up, so I'm gonna end right there.
